Woodsome’s Hot Streak Wins A “Master Class” Play Off Final

The Junior League Final resulted in a very impressive win for Woodsome Hall over Huddersfield, who, although losing 8-0, played their part in an entertaining afternoon’s golf.

Prior to that, Huddersfield won their morning semi-final after West End unfortunately had to conceed. However, the Woodsome Hall v Willow Valley encounter resulted in a top class encounter with both teams playing their part. Willow Valley were first to register a win in the four person match ups, with Habib Khan just getting the better of Isaac Turner. This was followed by James Robertson of Woodsome Hall celebrating a 2 up win, despite Willow Valley’s Jack Hampshaw winning the 17th hole to reduce the arrears to 1 hole down with 1 to play. The 4th match saw Woodsome Hall’s Isaac Rhodes get the better of Jack Wright to give them a slight advantage, leaving the 3rd match to decide who would make the final. Extra holes loomed with Dan Sharp of Willow Valley 1 up on the 16th hole, but his opponent, Alek Byram, then produced a winning run of 3 holes to register another 2 up success and put Woodsome through to the final.

The afternoon final between Huddersfield and Woodsome Hall was a win for the latter who produced some impressive golf and their magical hot streak gave them the title with Isaac Turner getting the better of Ben Walker and James Robertson impressing in his win over Dominic Hughes . Huddersfield’s Brighdy Connors came up against Woodsome’s Alex Byram but just could not get the better of him and he played an excellent round to clinch the match . Isaac Rhodes then gave another master class to put the icing on the cake for a delighted team who now go on to one of the Northern Finals.
