BOYS PLAYER  & COACHING PATHWAY

The Halifax, Huddersfield and District Union of Golf Clubs (HHDUGC) wishes to be a successful District Team within the Yorkshire Inter District Union (YIDU) league and Championships.
In 2018 the junior team won the league for the first time since its inception in 2003.

Other successes have been few:
YIDU Senior league won in 1994.                                    The league started in 1985
YIDU Team Championship in 1985.                                The Championship started in 1974
Junior Team Championship, never.                                The Championship started in 1985

The Pathway was introduced to achieve the goal of winning one of the Championships by 2024. Of course success came early and this has whetted the appetite for further success.
In the HHDUGC we wish our juniors to have the best opportunities to the various levels of coaching and support and indeed to help further their careers and advance into the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs (YUGC) coaching pathway.
Our aim is to identify those boys with the potential and dedication required to play not only at District level but also County Level.  The present Yorkshire Boys Champion is from one of our clubs.
There are several ways to access the coaching programme;

  • HHDUGC Under 13 Identification Day
  • Nomination by club Junior Organiser or Professional
  • Performance in the HHDUGC junior competitions
  • Performance in open events i.e away from the home club

Each application will be assessed by the coaching administrator and manager to consider their ability to be included within the winter and spring coaching programme.

The coaching offered by the HHDUGC is designed to compliment that being received already by the boys from their existing coach (es) and add value and support in their development.

BOYS COACHING NOMINATION PROCESS

The Halifax, Huddersfield and District Union of Golf Clubs has introduced a process for professionals, parents, junior organisers and club officials of member clubs to nominate any boy they feel has the ability, performance and capability to be a HHDUGC junior team player now or in the future.
The information provided will allow the Teams and Coaching Manager and coaches to assess the boys suitability for inclusion in the coaching programme

Consideration will be given at any time but there are no guarantees the nominated boy will be accepted immediately.

It is important that the District is kept informed of any potentially promising boys so that consideration can be given to their integration into the coaching programme and for them to be informed of the opportunities that are available.
In addition it is relevant to state that the golf required is a high standard and is very competitive, the level is continually improving and some boys will be disappointed in not being accepted.
The boys must be committed to working hard, show effort and dedication to being the best they can be and when compared to their peers.

If you wish to nominate a boy to be considered please complete the nomination form in full and return by e-mail to coaching@hhdugc.org.uk or by post to Frank Greaves Teams and Coaching Manager, Stainland, Halifax, HX4 9GA.

If you wish to discuss any coaching matters before nominating an individual then please contact Frank Greaves on 07771 637358.
