Lilly Hirst Woodsome Hall Golf Club was the first lady to win the Junior match play  as this is the first time a lady has been able to enter this competition.

St. Annes’ Old Links Match report

Just a few lines on our annual match against St. Anne's Old Links GC which tookplace on Sunday 28th April 2019.
The Union executive Team and proper golfers were very well looked after by the Captain and members of SAOL as usual and we had a great game.

Whilst the weather was not that warm, at least it was dry for the day and the course played well. There was still evidence on some of the fairways of the long hot summer last year, but the greens were fast and in fantastic condition. Whilst the executive team enjoyed a 9 hole practice round in the morning, our players played in the foursomes and won the morning match 6-4.

After a spot of lunch (soup and sandwiches) the executive team set off for the 4BBB matches and we came in all square at 3-3.
Then followed the players and they had a less successful afternoon and lost their match 8-2.

That leaves us with an overall score of SAOL: 15     HHDUGC: 11.

With the return match at Halifax West End GC to take place at the end of September, it was felt by the SAOL Captain and organiser that they may be still 3 or 4 points short but time will tell.
